Dr. Wayne Matsuyama is a highly accomplished optometrist with deep roots in education, leadership, and community service. A proud graduate of St. Louis High School, Dr. Matsuyama demonstrated academic excellence early, taking college courses at Chaminade College through the Early Admissions Program as a junior. He pursued his undergraduate studies at the University of Southern California and the University of Hawaii before earning his Doctorate of Optometry from the prestigious Illinois College of Optometry after just three years of undergraduate education.

Dr. Matsuyama’s professional affiliations include active memberships in the Hawaii Optometric Association (HOA) and the American Optometric Association (AOA). A dedicated leader, he served on the HOA Board of Directors and was elected its President in 1983, exemplifying his commitment to advancing the field of optometry in Hawaii.

Beyond optometry, Dr. Matsuyama has made significant contributions to the community. He served two terms on the State Medical Advisory Board, including six years as chairman, under Governor Waihee from 1990 to 1998. His leadership extended to serving as Chairman of the Board for the Kaimuki-Waialae YMCA and as President of the Pearl City Lions Club.

Dr. Matsuyama's dedication to service is evident in his involvement with numerous organizations, including the Aiea-Pearl City Business Association, Kaimuki Business & Professional Association, and Waimalu Elementary School PTO. His extensive leadership and community engagement reflect his passion for making a difference both professionally and personally.

With his wealth of experience and commitment to exceptional patient care, Dr. Matsuyama continues to be a trusted optometrist and respected leader in the Hawaii community.
